Who decides for you when you can’t?

A power of attorney lives or dies on the wording. We draft yours so when the moment comes (an accident, a hospitalization, a slow decline) the people you chose can actually act, and the bank, the hospital, and the title company accept it.

Who This Is For

Every adult should have these. Most don’t.

Powers of attorney aren’t about death; they’re about the years before. Without them, your family ends up in court while you’re still in the hospital.

If you can't sign for yourself

An accident, a stroke, a slow decline. Without a financial POA in place, your spouse can’t sell the house or pay the bills without going to court for conservatorship.

If you want medical decisions made by the right person

A medical POA names who speaks for you when you can’t. Without one, hospitals fall back on Colorado’s default order, which may not be what you’d choose.

If your bank or brokerage will need to act

Banks reject vague or out-of-date powers of attorney constantly. We draft yours so it actually works at the teller window or call center.

If you have a business or rental property

Someone has to keep things running if you can’t. A POA names that someone, with the specific authority they’ll need.

If you split decisions between people

Medical to your daughter, financial to your son? Possible, and often wise. We draft the documents so the lines are clear and conflicts don’t arise.

Have old POAs? Bring them in.

Colorado POAs don’t carry a statutory expiration, but banks and brokerages increasingly resist accepting documents more than about seven years old, especially when the form is older or the language is unusual. We’ll review yours and tell you whether they still work.

How POAs Come Together

Four steps. Documents that actually work.

We almost always draft these alongside your will or trust; they’re part of a complete plan. But we’ll do them on their own when that’s what you need.

01

Pick your agents

Who decides? Same person for medical and financial, or split? We help you think through who, with backups for each role.

02

Decide when authority kicks in

Effective immediately on signing, or only on disability (a springing POA)? Each has trade-offs: immediate POAs are easier for banks and brokerages to accept, springing POAs hold authority until it's actually needed. We walk through both and pick the one that fits.

03

Draft the documents

We prepare your financial POA, medical POA, and a Colorado-compliant healthcare directive. Drafted with the specific powers your bank, broker, and hospital will actually accept.

04

Sign, witness, distribute

Final signing in our office with the notary Colorado requires. We give the originals to you and copies to your agents and your doctor, so the documents are findable when needed.

What It Costs

A fixed fee. Quoted upfront.

Powers of attorney are often drafted on their own or bundled with a full estate plan. Either way, you get a fixed fee in writing before we begin.

Includes drafting, the signing meeting, and notary.
You’ll receive a transparent fixed-fee quote at the conclusion of your free consultation, tailored to your matter, before any engagement begins.
A free consultation. No obligation.

Don't wait for the emergency.

A POA only works if it's signed before you need it. Don't procrastinate.
